Germany will allocate €5 billion for military aid to Ukraine. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced where the funds will be allocated.
- Part of the amount will be used to purchase long-range weapons made in Ukraine. A significant number of such systems are planned to be produced this year. They will be promptly provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine – the first samples may be delivered in a few weeks.
- A contract was signed with Diehl Defense for the production of IRIS-T air defense systems and missiles for them worth €2.2 billion.
- Germany will also finance repair facilities in Ukraine – the defense companies of the two countries will set up a joint venture.
- The country has agreed to finance a large part of Ukraine’s satellite communications and will finance Ukraine’s military communications system.
- Germany will also finance the purchase of Ukrainian medical equipment.
- The country will continue to supply ammunition to the Ukrainian army. In addition to the batches of artillery shells already announced for 2025, additional ammunition packages will be provided for various systems, including key air defense systems.
- Germany will provide Ukraine with land weapons and small arms.
- Ukraine and Germany also have new agreements on joint production of drones. This could cost about €400 million.
