The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has told Ukrainian media that the SBU and the Special Operations Forces, together with the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were behind the drone attack on the Slaviansk oil refinery in Russia on March 17. This is the 12th oil refinery to be attacked by Ukrainian drones recently.
The Sloviansk refinery is located in the city of Sloviansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Krai, and is one of the five largest in the region.
The Russians also reported drone attacks in other regions – near Moscow, in Belgorod, Yaroslavl, and Rostov regions.
On the night of March 16, three Rosneft oil refineries in the Samara region were also attacked by attack drones. These are the Novokuibyshevsk, Kuibyshev and Syzran refineries. In total, these refineries process about 25 million tons of oil per year, which is almost 10% of the total oil refining in Russia.
On March 15, a refinery in the Kaluga region was attacked by drones. Russian media claimed that three drones hit the refining equipment of the Pervy Zavod petrochemical plant.
