Polish investments in Ukraine decreased by 10% last year: what is the reason?

According to Gremi Personal’s analytical data, in 2024, the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) from Poland to Ukraine amounted to $172.5 million, which is 10% less than in 2023, when the figure reached $191.6 million.

It should be noted that in 2022, investments from Poland amounted to only $97 million. In total, Poland invested more than $460 million in Ukraine in 2022-2024.

Concorde Capital clarified that the volume of foreign direct investment from Poland to Ukraine decreased primarily due to a decline in income earned by foreign investors in Ukraine.

“The overwhelming majority of FDI from Poland is reinvested income,” experts say.

In addition, the reduction in investment may also be due to the gradual easing of currency restrictions, which opens up new opportunities for investors. Analysts noted that over the past nine years, the volume of such reinvestments has fluctuated between $100-200 million per year. They reached their highest level in 2021, when FDI from Poland amounted to $228 million. Experts predict that investment volumes will remain in the same range in the coming years.

One of the areas of cooperation with Washington is helping to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian gas. Poland is ready to become an energy hub and supply gas to Ukraine.
