Ukrainian Drone “Furia” A1-CM Gets New Batteries with Up to 4 Hours of Flight Time and FLIR Thermal Camera
Reconnaissance and fire adjustment capabilities reach a new level. Ukrainian forces actively use unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance and artillery fire correction, and the effectiveness of strikes directly depends on their capabilities.
One of the most well-known drones is the A1-CM “Furia” system, developed by Atlon Avia. Since 2014, it has proven its reliability on the frontlines, and the new upgrade has significantly enhanced its key characteristics, making “Furia” an even more valuable part of the Ukrainian army’s arsenal.
Extended-Range Batteries
Next-generation batteries allow the A1-CM “Furia” drone to fly up to four hours continuously. This increases autonomy and provides more time for reconnaissance and artillery fire correction. According to the developers, the upgrade significantly expands the UAV’s tactical capabilities.
Optical Modules and FLIR Thermal Camera
Another important upgrade is the modernization of the drone’s optical modules. A new FLIR thermal camera has been installed for night operations, improving image quality and enhancing observation accuracy in low-light conditions. The daytime module features new target-tracking algorithms, allowing the operator to maintain control of a target without extra effort. Module changes take less than 30 seconds, making the system flexible and quickly adaptable to mission conditions.
Specifications and Significance of the Upgrade
The drone’s new parameters include a range of at least 50 kilometers, a flight route of up to 200 kilometers, a service ceiling of 2,500 meters, and a takeoff weight of about 6 kilograms. Despite maintaining the same size and speed, “Furia” can now operate longer, more reliably, and more efficiently.
