Cogeneration units save Ukrainian regions from the consequences of Russian strikes

As reported by US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, as a result of the Russian attacks on November 28, 1 million people in Ukraine were left without heat and electricity on the eve of winter. According to her, cogeneration units provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) helped to provide heat and water to thousands of residents of communities in Volyn, Khmelnytsky, and Rivne regions.

The first cogeneration unit with a capacity of 630 kW was launched at the water utility’s facility in Chernihiv, which will ensure the uninterrupted operation of Chernihiv’s treatment facilities during blackouts and save the company’s electricity costs. The equipment, worth about ₴15 million, which runs on gas and produces electricity and heat simultaneously, was provided to the city by the International Charitable Organization for Migration.

As a reminder, on the night of November 28, Russia launched a massive combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s energy sector: air defense destroyed 76 cruise missiles, three guided missiles, and 35 drones from 188 enemy targets.
